18th December 2017

Dear Parents / Carers

There is a lot of speculation about the future of the Sixth Form. First of all, I want to reassure you that we continue to recruit actively to the Sixth Form for September 2018. We are looking carefully at the implications of yet further opportunities for Sixth Form education in both Bury St Edmunds and Cambridge from September 2019.
We have two responsibilities – to ensure the Sixth Form here is the very best where every student achieves very well, and that everyone in Year 11 is given the best help and guidance for making the best choice for their education after Year 11.
We are holding a meeting for parents of students in Years 10 and 11, and students too, to talk about how we see the opportunities for the future and the challenges. The meeting will be in the Drama Studio at the school at 7.00pm on Monday 15th January 2018.
For students in Year 11, if they are unsure of their choice for the next stage, they can of course hold multiple offers. It is important to note that some institutions have closing dates for applications in the first few days in January. Staff will be happy to discuss any of this with individual students and their parents.

Yours faithfully
