Dear Parents and Carers of Year 6,

Success at secondary school: a live question and answer session

Wednesday 21st October 6:30pm

It has been a pleasure to meet the Year 6s in our feeder schools over the past couple of weeks and to answer their many questions. They are suitably excited about all the opportunities that secondary school will offer. We have also enjoyed talking directly to all the families who have requested video calls regarding the move to secondary. I’m conscious that while there is a great deal of information in the Open Event section of our website parents, carers and students may still have questions about how they can the move to secondary school can be as successful as possible.

We would like to invite you to zoom meeting on Wednesday 21st October at 6:30pm where you can have your questions answered by members of the senior leadership team:

Mr Hunter, Headteacher

Dr Geall, Deputy Headteacher, lead for transition and student achievement

Mr Butterworth, Assistant Principal, assessment, setting, timetable and curriculum

Miss Powell, Assistant Principal, lead for behaviour, safeguarding and wellbeing

Ms Fenwick, SENDCo, lead for support for additional needs

To join the Zoom meeting please contact your local primary school or kfranks@samuelward.co.uk for ID and passcode:

You can find the Open Event section of our website at the link below. You will find the school videos; virtual tour; pastoral, SEND, transition and curriculum information; contact details for key staff plus subject links where you can view a video of each subject and see exactly what students will learn in years 7 to 11: https://samuelward.co.uk/news/open-event-at-samuel-ward-academy
