Photography gives you the opportunity to work and experiment with all types of photographic skills and equipment such as Digital Cameras, studio lighting and using Photoshop and similar editing tools.

Experiment with photographic techniques ideas of your own to create unique photographic works.

Years 10 and 11

The aim of the curriculum at Key Stage 4 is to enable students to develop personalised ideas linking to the processes of established practitioners. 

The heart of this is a series of shooting cycles where students determine their own themes and pursue knowledge of the techniques as used by others to discover the means to successfully create works of their own. 

Each shooting cycle focusses on a chosen practitioner and allows students to follow their own path. In this way we aim to make the course as inclusive as it can be, allowing students to follow their own creative direction.

Years 12 and 13

The A-level course is broadly similar to Key Stage 4. It does, however, focus more on the use of the camera as a tool and rather than just understanding how other practitioners work, we will foster a clearer understanding of specific photographic techniques and how they can be achieved through the mechanics of digital photography. 

An essay element augments the body of work where the students produce a more formal piece of writing highlighting their intentions.  

In both cases students produce a body of coursework making 60% of their overall qualification, and an exam element, where practice is revisited and consolidated, making up the final 40% of their qualification.
