Dear Parents/Carers of Year 11,

I am hopefully writing to you for the last time this year with the final details for the upcoming events. It has been my privilege to be a very small part of your child’s journey through the school and I wanted to pass on how proud I am of the dedication and resilience they have shown in the last 5 years, which will hopefully be evidenced by the results in their GCSE’s that they deserve. I am looking forward to celebrating the end of their journey with us and I hope that they will enjoy the events we are putting together for them.

Exams and revision after Monday 10th June:

Students only need to come in for their scheduled exams after Monday 10th June. There will be a table outside of the exams hall where students will need to sign in and out. If students have 2 exams on one day, we will organise rooms for them to be supervised to study if they wish to stay on site. If parents are able to email me to let me know names, we can then ensure we can account for numbers.

For the remaining exams there will be optional revision sessions in school which students can sign up for. Please use this link to select any sessions your child will definitely be attending to help us plan accurately.

School uniform should be worn at these sessions.

Leavers’ Day:

This will be on Thursday 20th June. Students will be asked to come into school in smart clothes (suitable for workwear). They should arrive as normal at 8:40 and will go straight to have some time with their tutors. During period 1 they will be in our C block breakout area with the opportunity to sign shirts (not ones they are wearing), collect hoodies, year books, prom tickets and vehicle passes. They can also visit teachers if this does not disturb classes. During period 2 we will be having a celebration assembly and after this there will be time for farewells and a small treat before we ask students to leave site by 12:30.

Prom:

Tickets are available for prom now on Parentpay. We have managed to rearrange all our original plans to Wednesday 3rd July, so Prom is looking to be a wonderful evening. Thank you to Mrs Smithson for her organisation of this. To try and calm the pressure on traffic we have been asked by the local counsellors to look at new ways to help with arrival, so we are going to trial a different route detailed below (please do not use Swan Lane, marked in red):

In addition, we would like parents to book timeslots for their planned vehicles. As part of the VIP package we are offering first choice to those students. After this it will be on a first come, first served basis. The link for your preferences is below (or QR below):

The doors will open at 19:30 and will finish at 22:30. There will be a welcome drink and some snacks available as part of the ticket price, but additional non-alcoholic  refreshments can be purchased from the bar.

The Happy Shed:

Just a reminder that our Happy Shed (available via reception) is open and would appreciate any donations of school uniform or any other items that students no longer need. We are in specific need of trousers and any girls uniform, but all donations are gratefully received.  We have been able to help many families out this year and we would like to be able to continue doing so.

Thank you so much for your support over the last 5 years, we hope that all goes smoothly over the next few weeks.

Yours Sincerely,

Tarah Bennett

Head of year 11
